About Me

Carol Remfrey Foote: MPhil, BSc(Hons) CTA(Psychotherapist),UKCP Accredited, SRN
My name is Carol Remfrey Foote, and my background is rooted in almost 30 years of experience within the NHS, where I worked as a Senior Sister, Health Visitor, and Nurse Practitioner. This long career in nursing shaped how I see people — not just as patients, but as whole human beings with physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Between 2008 and 2012, I undertook four years of professional training in psychotherapy, followed by advanced postgraduate study. I am now a qualified, accredited Psychotherapist and am currently completing my PhD in Psychotherapy.

My practice combines compassion with evidence-based practice. I use Outcome Measures throughout therapy sessions to help track your progress and ensure that our work together remains responsive to your needs. This allows us to reflect together on what’s working well and what may need attention as your therapy evolves.

I have also contributed to research in the field. You can read my published article here:
Remfrey Foote, C. (2023). How Outcome Measures Could Support Transactional Analysts in Clinical Practice to Improve Treatment Trajectories, Manage Risk, Minimise Client Drop-Out Rates and Support Clinical Supervision.

My Approach
I believe therapy is a collaborative process — a safe, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace.

My approach is holistic, meaning I consider the connection between body, mind, and spirit. I draw on a range of therapeutic methods, tailored to each individual’s unique story and goals. Whether you are facing anxiety, loss, relationship issues, or a general sense of being “stuck,” I aim to help you gain clarity and restore a sense of balance.

Each session offers a supportive space to better understand yourself, make meaningful changes, and move forward with greater self-awareness and resilience.

Services I Provide
I offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults in a calm, confidential environment. Some of the areas I can help with include:
Anxiety, Stress, and Burnout
Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly under pressure can take a toll on both mind and body. Therapy offers a calm, supportive space to understand the roots of your stress and develop healthier ways to manage life’s demands and restore balance.
Depression and Low Mood
Depression can make life feel heavy and disconnected. Together, we can explore the emotions, patterns, and experiences that contribute to your low mood, helping you find new ways to reconnect with hope, energy, and purpose.
Relationship or Family Difficulties
Relationships are central to our well-being, yet they can sometimes bring pain or confusion. I can help you explore patterns of communication, manage conflict, and build healthier, more fulfilling connections with others.
Grief, Loss, and Life Transitions
Loss comes in many forms — the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a major change in life direction. Therapy provides a gentle space to process grief, make sense of transitions, and begin to move forward with compassion for yourself.
Low Self-Esteem and Self-Worth
Low confidence can quietly influence many areas of life. In our work together, we can explore where these feelings began and help you build a stronger, kinder relationship with yourself — one based on respect and self-acceptance.
Personal Growth and Self-Understanding
Therapy isn’t only for times of struggle. Many people come simply to understand themselves more deeply, develop emotional awareness, and grow into a more authentic, fulfilling way of living.
Sessions are available Monday to Wednesday, 10:00–18:30 (UK).
I also offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to help us decide if working together feels right for you.
